1. This agreement
Scolefy is provided by Zinx Studios Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17227307, whose registered office is at 167-169 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5PF, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). By downloading, creating an account on, or using Scolefy (the “app”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and forms part of this agreement.
2. Who may use Scolefy
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Scolefy.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, or under the age of digital consent in your country (13 to 16 in the EEA, 13 in the UK), you may use Scolefy only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the app.
- You must not use Scolefy if we have previously terminated your account, or if doing so would breach the law where you are.
3. Your account
Scolefy requires an account. You can create one with Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or an email address and password.
- Provide accurate information and keep it current.
- Keep your credentials secret. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Tell us promptly at info@zinxstudios.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
- One account per person. Do not share an account or transfer it to anyone else.
- You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Deletion is permanent and removes your content — see the account deletion page.
4. Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Scolefy on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial study purposes, in accordance with the App Store Terms of Service.
Scolefy, including its software, design, branding, text and graphics, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. Except as this agreement allows, you may not:
- copy, modify, translate or create derivative works of the app;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
- rent, lease, sell, sublicense or otherwise commercially exploit it;
- remove or obscure any proprietary notice;
- use automated means to access the service, or attempt to circumvent rate limits, security controls or paywalls.
5. Subscriptions and payment
What is paid
Scolefy is free to use for its core features. Scolefy Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks additional features. The features included, the price, and the billing period are shown in the app before you purchase.
Billing and auto-renewal
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price then in effect for your plan.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. Apple will notify you of a price increase and, where required, ask you to consent before it applies to your renewal. If you do not consent, your subscription will not renew.
Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms — we cannot issue them directly. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing here limits any statutory right of withdrawal or refund you may have as a consumer under local law.
If your subscription ends
Premium features stop working, but your school data is not deleted. Any content you created with premium features remains in your account and becomes available again if you resubscribe. Device-local settings such as premium themes revert to the free defaults.
6. Your content
Everything you put into Scolefy — your classes, assignments, grades, notes, photos, scans and drawings — is yours. We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, back up, transmit and display your content solely so that we can operate the app for you — for example, syncing it to your other devices. This licence exists only to run the service, ends when you delete the content or your account, and does not permit us to publish your content, sell it, or use it for advertising or for training AI models.
You are responsible for your content, and you confirm that:
- you have the right to store and upload it;
- it does not infringe anyone else’s intellectual property or privacy rights — take care when photographing copyrighted textbooks or other people’s work;
- it does not break the law.
Keep your own copies of anything important. While we operate backups, we do not guarantee that content can be recovered, and we are not a backup service.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Scolefy for anything unlawful, or to store unlawful material;
- use it to cheat or to breach your school’s or institution’s academic integrity rules — that is between you and your school, and it is your responsibility;
- attempt to access another user’s account or data;
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our systems, or breach any security or authentication measure;
- interfere with, overload or disrupt the service or its infrastructure;
- use the service to build a competing product, or to scrape it;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or institution.
If you find a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to info@zinxstudios.com rather than exploiting it.
8. Changes to the app
We are actively developing Scolefy. We may add, change or remove features, and we may move a feature between the free and premium tiers. If we remove or substantially reduce a feature that is a core part of a subscription you are currently paying for, we will give you reasonable notice in the app, and you may cancel.
We may suspend the service temporarily for maintenance, and we may discontinue Scolefy entirely. If we discontinue it, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your content where practicable.
9. Disclaimers — what Scolefy is not
Scolefy is a personal organiser, not an official record. Grades, averages and predictions shown in the app are calculated from what you enter, using the grading system you configure. They are estimates for your own planning. They are not your school’s official marks, they may not match how your institution actually calculates results, and you should never rely on them for any academic or administrative decision. Always check your school’s official records.
Similarly, timetable entries, due dates and reminders are what you or your schedule settings put there. We do not guarantee that a notification will be delivered on time, or at all — delivery depends on iOS, your device settings, battery state and network conditions. Do not use Scolefy as your only means of remembering something that matters.
Scolefy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any school, college, university, examination board or education authority.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here affects your non-waivable statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity — including any academic consequence of a missed deadline, an inaccurate calculated grade, or a notification that did not arrive.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Scolefy is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, your statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the app, or content you store that infringes someone else’s rights. This does not apply to consumers to the extent local law prohibits it.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Scolefy at any time and delete your account from within the app.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, if your use puts the service or other users at risk, or if we are required to by law. Where circumstances reasonably allow, we will give you notice and an opportunity to put things right first. If we terminate your account other than for a serious breach, we will refund any prepaid, unused subscription period.
Sections 6 (as to responsibility for content), 9, 10, 11, 13 and 16 survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform.
Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at info@zinxstudios.com — most issues can be resolved quickly.
14. Apple-specific terms
Because Scolefy is distributed through the App Store, the following apply and prevail over anything inconsistent elsewhere in these Terms:
- This agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Scolefy and its content.
- Your licence to use Scolefy is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Scolefy.
- If Scolefy fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to Scolefy. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Scolefy, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar legislation.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party intellectual property infringement claim relating to Scolefy.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the app develops. The version number and date at the top always reflect the current text.
If we make a material change — for example, adding features that let other people see your content, changing how subscriptions work, or altering your rights under §10 or §13 — we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Scolefy after that date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the app and delete your account.
Miscellaneous
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about Scolefy.
- If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- You may not assign this agreement. We may assign it to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
